Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Southern Culture On The Skids - Mojo Box

 | As always, the new Southern Culture On The Skids CD is with instros in tow, and way cool swamp rockin' vocals. They've been doing it since - what - the early nineties? Damn! I'd love to host an all instro set from this band at KFJC! |
Picks: The Wet Spot, The Sweet Spot
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
"The Wet Spot" rips with surf and grumble, and shredder's melody line. An excellent return to the often surfy roots of Southern Culture On The Skids. Tuff drums, high energy, spunky drive. On occasion, it's a little Russian sounding. Great reverb, vibrato shimmer, and a great surf beat! This is not the Halibuts' song.
Near Surf (Instrumental)
Leaning long and low on a warbly guitar line and exotic percussion, "The Sweet Spot" whines like an Hawaiian vacation without Tropicana®. Suave and silky in a warped kinda way, with a semi Japanese sound.
