Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA | Vis Iskre was a Yugoslavian band from the mid sixties. These two tracks are an early demo from 1964. While truly not surf, they nonetheless show an attempt from behind the veil at western rock'n'roll instrumentals. |

Telstar
Rock (Instrumental)
A heavily echoed countdown introduces this distorted recording at the The Tornados' "Telstar." The sound may have been an attempt at the Joe Meek sound, because it's heavily compressed and very thick. The pace and energy are restrained. While quite interesting, it's not particularly listenable.
Rock (Instrumental)
This is a fascinating cover of Paul Kelly and Tom King's wonderful "Sheba" (Johnny and the Hurricanes). For the most part, the organ replaces Dave Yorko's guitar, which gives it a sort of Tornados sound. Pretty darn interesting.
