 | This is a one-track issue of a nine-minute epic. "Oktober Mourning" is totally cool, very sophisticated, and well developed. With lead on the left and organ or second guitar on the right, and fairly ambient drums, it's a bit like a demo, though there's way more production than that usually entails. Very cool! |

Surf (Instrumental)
Great drums carry this dramatic and slightly ominous number. The guitar line is circular and changes texture and style verse to verse. At about three minutes in, "Oktober Mourning" suddenly becomes orchestral and film-dramatic, with distant guitar in echo panned about in a very psychedelic image. Slowly, a dark low-e line appears, and gradually a rhythmic surf pattern emerges on muted reverbed guitar. Theremin, effects, relentless seventies progressive patterns and more congeal into a well structured story. The five parts to "Oktober Mourning" sequentially paint a story of death and danger. It's quite an epic.
