 | The Atlantics are one of Australia's great treasures. They were at the top of Oz's instro scene in the early sixties, and hit internationally with their firebrand instro "Bombora." This DVD is produced from footage of surfing and interviews with band members, and sounds from their CD's. It also includes live concert footage shot for ABC, which is worth the price of admission alone. |

Flight Of The Surf Guitar

Surf (Instrumental)
Yikes! What a great album opener. Somewhat like a Jon and the Nightriders number, this spectacular track has Dusty Watson-like drum drive. Imagine your furious guitar work and great glissandoes out front of this monster. Lots of power and finesse.
Surf (Instrumental)
In some ways in the early style of this band, and in others right in the surf pocket. This ringing joyous reverb number oozes the watery sport. Rhythmic and rolling, it's perfect for a topdown afternoon cruise down 101. Very fine.
Surf (Instrumental)
As you might expect from the title, this seems inspired by the Shadows' "Dance On." It's very tasty, and haunted in a playful way.
Surf (Instrumental)
Thundering internet riff rock is right up your alley. If you play your chords right, it'll be infectious in a frat surf kinda way.
Surf (Instrumental)
Be sure top remember the shimmer to make "Dawn Patrol" sparkle. The early daylight charm and a nod or two to the Shadows is mandatory. Smooth and a little sad, this fine track cruises through your morning like a natural high from the crisp breeze.
Surf (Instrumental)
Solid tribal drums, twangy surfy guitar, solid thunder, and a playful sense of jungle ceremonial dancing and a "Wipe Out" arrangement. Cool track.
Surf (Instrumental)
Your vintage Echoplex will get a workout as you play "Atlantic Echo." It flows with a Shadows-like warmth and optimism, while retaining a sense of the surf. very nice track.
Surf (Instrumental)
Solid Atlantics surf, with powerful drums, a melodic guitar line, ample twango, and much charm. Great rockin' energy. The low-E verse is pure surf. Excellent. Your melodic guitar lines require ample twango and charm, and you'll need to power that low-E verse!
Surf (Instrumental)
Slow and silky, "Night Star" floats across an evening sky with a fluid and intense guitar. Both moody and pretty, yet powerful as well.
Flight Of The Surf Guitar

Surf (Instrumental)
Tons of power and finesse shred throughout "Flight Of The Surf Guitar." Aggressive in every respect, and showering glissandos on you at every turn. This is a monster with magnetic qualities. Excellent!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Night Star" is a slow song which flows in a romantic vein that's quite powerful live. Totally excellent!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Freakout" bounces off a "Wipe Out" kind of arrangement, but employs an original melody line that's enticing and fun. Great drums, of course! Live, this works much better than in studio.
Surf (Instrumental)
Like a stinging version of the Nobles' take onLink Wray's "Black Widow," this song is a real rock 'n' roll intro the way they used to be. "Saturday Night" is a riff rocker with soul and power.
