Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Terauchi Takeshi and his Blue Jeans - Japanese Title

 | The production of this live reunion recording is very lush, and the playing updated and very smooth, yet it's quite attractive. It's a reunion concert after 30 years of influence on Japanese guitarists. |

This warbly whammified string bender sports a nifty melody line. It's very surf, yet is also quite Japanese.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is not really a medley, but rather an untracked set of several songs with announcements interspersed, a kind of history of Terauchi Takeshi and his Blue Jeans. First is a song I don't recognize with a little "Diamond Head" action and swirling organ and orchestral keys. The melody is very adult contemporary. The second song within the mini-set is "Diamond Head," and while it's abridged, it's very cool. It swings right into a glassy version of "Pipeline" that's rhythmic and lush. Third in the set is "Surf Party" is a splendidly soft yet powerful surf reverb arrangement that's both immediate and smooth. It's quite a unique arrangement sound wise. next in the flow is a delightful workout of "Movin'." A wonderful sound and splash! Following "Movin'" is a melody i don't recognize that's likely an original from the sixties. next is a kind of nod to "Kickstand" arrangement wise, but the melody is something entirely different. It all ends with a soft instro that's quite pleasant.
Surf (Instrumental)
Echoed plucking deluxe in this man vs. echo extravaganza. It's an entirely original arrangement of "Caravan" like none you've ever heard before. Simply amazing! By track's end it's nearly orchestral, but it's the muted dry echoed plucking that drives this fine version of Duke Ellington's masterpiece.

Rapid fire guitar wizardry is displayed on "Beethoven's 5th" with alternating staccato and sustained notes. The guitar against the lush keys creates a kind of tension of style. Dramatic and fun.
Rock (Instrumental)
A bizarre duet between lead guitar and organ projects a demented traditional Japanese theme before launching into a speedy pick fest. very strange and edgy.

Love Is A Many Splendored Thing
Rock (Instrumental)
This is a wholly orchestral song, light and soundtrack-like. Pretty, but inconsequential.
