Shark Bait - Back room Surfdotdotdotdot
artworkShark Bait was a four piece band from the metropolis of Campbell, California. I recorded just two tracks with them in the back room at Streetlight Records in February of '86 for Chris Ashford's "What Surf III" compilation, of which "Surf Punk" was selected. Not commercially available, but maybe some day...
Picks: Surf Punk, Toes On The Nose, Surf Punk II, Toes On The Nose II

Track by Track Review

Surf Punk dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is percussive, damped surf, infectious and meaty, and very playful. Too bad these guys quit so early on. Highly rhythmic and percussive, with a restrained power. "Surf Punk" appears on What Surf III.

Toes On The Nose dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Eddie and the Showmen's "Toes On The Nose" sounds so different under the restrained delivery of Shark Bait. The rhythm becomes the dominant characteristic, completely changing the affect. Infectious.

Surf Punk II dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This remix is more percussive and clear, displaying their damped reverb surf. It's an infectious and meaty track, and very playful. Too bad these guys quit so early on.

Toes On The Nose II dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a remix of Eddie and the Showmen's "Toes On The Nose" with more active panning and crisper sound.
