![]() | Tim Tam and the Turn-Ons were from Allen Park, Michigan. They were a vocal group, with Rick Wiesend (Tim Tam) - lead vocals, backed by vocalists Danny Wiesend, Don Grundman, Nick Butsicaris, John Ogen, and Earl Rennie. They formed in 1964 and lasted through most of 1967. They met in the concert choir at Allen Park High School. Danny and the others used to rehearse in Danny's basement, where brother Rick heard them, joined in and wrote their big hit for them, "Wait A Minute." The single sold 30,000 copies in the first month of release. "Wait A Minute" is a Four Seasons-like vocal, polished and well done. Rick Wiesend and Tom DeAngelo wrote all the material. Fellow classmates from Allen Park High, the Sattelights, became their backup band. The Sattelights featured lead guitarist Dave Faro and drummer Frank Chauvilli, who created the spectacular surf instro "Opelia," which appeared on the b-side of their single on Palmer. |
