Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Mr. Action and the Boss Guitars - Action | This demo ranges from ambient to live to decent. The songs are all nicely done in a gentle Ventures kind of way. Probably an easy band to hear live, and while there's no new ground here, this set is pleasurable. |

Track by Track Review
British Inavsion Surf (Instrumental)
This is a nice flowing and almost romantic cover of Don Black and Mark London's title track to the film of the same name. Liquid guitar lines emote almost as much feeling Lulu & The Luvvers's vocal hit. Quite tasteful.
(I'm Leaving On A) Jet Plane Folkrock Surf (Instrumental)
John Denver's song is a melodic and soulful source for the slight surfization of Mr. Action and the Boss Guitars. "(I'm Leaving On A) Jet Plane" is a very pleasant listen.
Pop Surf (Instrumental)
Bobby Darin's beautiful "Dream Lover" is a fine choice for this band. It's pretty surfy via its fine melody, and the arrangement is easy on the ears.
Folkrock Surf (Instrumental)
The lovely reverb tones give John Phillips's hit song a real sense of California waters. The arrangement is simple and direct, and the song sure is fit for surf. Very nice.
Motown Surf (Instrumental)
This is a very light and airy song that's well suited for the romantic pop surf of Mr. Action and the Boss Guitars. Tasteful and easy.
Classical Surf (Instrumental)
This live take on Alexander Borodin's "Stranger In Paradise" is very Ventures-esq. There's fun in the double picked rhythm and the energy. The arrangement is not particularly original.
Venures Surf (Instrumental)
Alberto Dominguez' very cool melody is done here very much as the Ventures covered it, just more reverby. While there's nothing new here, it's very nice.
