Surf (Instrumental)
You might imagine surf as disco, and while there is a certain frantic energy and pace that suggests the vacuous dance rhythms, "Disco Cancer" also sports the curious juxtaposition of surf guitar tone and flailed chords and frantic notes, a liquid middle section with a lovely and sad melody line, and very cool energy. Original and engaging.
Surf (Instrumental)
Launching from a very sensual bass line and mysterious bent chords, "Hombres del Boo" evolves into a fast sort of tango de boo. Too frantic during the fast parts to be surf exactly, but the slower sections are just superb, and the contrast established through the frantic pace really contributes to the aura of the piece. Big grins!
Surf (Instrumental)
Stinging whammy, splashy chords, a playful rhythm, and a tremolo shimmered melody lines with sad Spanish edges, and all that with flair and drama and sensuality. "Senor Rita" evolves through many changes, and is simply superb!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Sexy Time" is playful and bouncy in an almost eastern European way, perhaps rooted in Romanian style. This is flippant and light hearted, and all fun.
Surf (Instrumental)
Rippin', high steppin', and driven with exotic energy and style. "Trip To Maternus" is very original and entirely fun. Exceptional energy and flair, with a serious grin. I like this a lot!
Surf (Instrumental)
A title once used by Bay Area band Chachi, Boba Fett and the Wookiee on an equally thrashy instro, "Strangling Yoda" flails flies. The classic surf pattern i the middle, a glissando or two, and a sea of really fast and frantic lines. This will wear you out!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Polkageist" is rooted in polka rhythmically, and the melody has that sort of feel as well. A ska rhythm in the middle, and you get a complete composition that's fast, fun, and infectious. Very cool!
