Collection: Minnesota Rockers Vol. 1dotdotdot
artworkMinnesota rocked! It's that simple. When there's not much to do and it's cold outside, you keep warm by playing hard and fast. This is one of many volumes of vintage Minnesota rockabilly, and as with most, it includes a few intros.
Picks: Twang, Moanin' Bass, Driftin'

Track by Track Review

Twang dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Loosely Duane Eddy inspired, this thick and intense number has a decent melody riff, and a very heavy overall sound. Mean and nasty, full throated backwoods jam. Lanesboro, Minnesota was home to the Rhythm Rockers. "Twang" was cut in 1961.

Moanin' Bass dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Moanin' Bass" is mistitled. It's not a bass dominated number, but rather a melodic rock instro with a tasty melody and twangy lead guitar that switched between the low-E and the high-E. Mid tempo infectious almost walking bass line, and just enough coolness. This track is probably from 1961 or 62. The Vibratones later recorded as Heritage.

Driftin' dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Driftin'" is a riff rockin' post boogie progression. slightly twangy and somewhat gutty, but not very interesting.
