Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Les Black Carnations - Beat The Attitude
|Germany's Black Carnations produced some really good pop psych in the mid-late eighties. They also issued one really fine instro track in the surf style. The vocals here are exceptional, especially the incredible "Voices Scream & Murmur." This album was recorded in 1985 in Berlin. The group is Mix Moon - guitar, Sandy Hobbs - vocals/guitar/organ, Joe Nailey - bass, Tom "Trixon" Grave - drums, and Justin Tyme - vocals, who is actually pop wizardess Katharina Franck. get this for the surf, them love the pop neo-psych glory of the rest of the music.|
Picks: Echo Flower Blues
Track by Track Review
Long pick slides, muted reverb, a very catchy melody line, and no end to happy surf sounds. Its intro refers to the talking plant in The Little House Of Horrors. "Echo Flower Blues" is just plain cool. This is superb surf instro that Les Black Carnations used as a set opener live in the mid eighties.
