The Berzerkers - Live on KXLUdotdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is a solid performance from Half Moon Bay's Berzerkers recorded on air at Jim Dunfrund's show on KXLU. Nine songs all well done. The mix is an odd drums right - bass center - guitar left mix, but the performance is splendid.
Picks: Untitled, The Eel, It Came In The Wind, Waimea Cruncher, Untitled, Manana Surf, Mung Taco, Sacquito Fria, Chummin'

Untitled dotdotdot
Surf Blues (Instrumental)

The cool riffs of this song precede a jammy guitar workout with a bluesy edge. This is a circular number that's good for opening shows 'cuz it allows the band to get tight without too much stress. As the song progresses, it softens to let in an almost Henry Mancini suaveness.

The Eel dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This song has been in the Berzerkers' set for over a decade. It's catchy and frivolous, surfable, and always fun. Riff dominated, and crunchy.

It Came In The Wind dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This song always pleases. Tribal drums and a liquid guitar line, with drama and flare, and a sense of romance. Great performance!

Waimea Cruncher dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This heavy duty number is somewhat restrained from the Berzerkers usual fire and brimstone. It's quite fluid and very cool, and does not lack for the less aggressive performance.

Manana Surf dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This silky slow song sounds very good here, with the band in perfect form and the performance measured and delicate. An excellent take.

Mung Taco dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Mung Taco" is such a cool song, with its splashy bridge and groovy melody line. Suave is an understatement here. Slithery magical is more like it.

Sacquito Fria dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

More delicate than the original version, this well written song sparkles and liquefies on contact. Always infectious, "Sacquito Fria" remains a fave after almost fifteen years.

Chummin' dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Also from the period that Sacquito Fria emanated, "Chummin'" is a powerful surf monster. Strong drums, great guitar work, and gutty attack. very cool!
