Vinyl Restoration:
Restoration returns digitized vinyl recordings to the best possible sound, mimicking as closely as possible the original sources. It includes a variety of processes that may be indicated by the source vinyl or audio files you provide.
-
Removal of clicks and pops. Virtually all vinyl, even some that has not been played, contains pops and clicks. These come from use, dirt, finger prints, and other environmental sources, as well as some pressing defects. Most can be successfully removed with software or editing. Some may be unrepairable.
-
EQ is used to enhance frequency response or reduce some kinds of noise.
-
Noise filtering can remove some systemic noise, such as bearing rumble in the pressing and some kinds of wear.
-
Editing can be used to repair some kinds of defects that software can not address. Significant editing is time consuming and costs extra.
-
Mono tracks will be converted to true mono, eliminating stereo artifacts completely. This is required because stereo cartridges and styluses in your turntables do not reproduce mono accurately, and the differences, while unnoticeable by themselves, are very annoying when both channels are played back. they can induce phase shifts and acoustic noise, or call more attention to defects in the audio.
NOTE: Because vinyl sources vary greatly in condition and quality, some defects are not repairable, and some noise can not be removed. In most cases, however, the resulting audio will be significantly superior to the source you provide
